Mission Statement

The mission of the Criminal Justice Magnet Academy is to strive, through teamwork, to promote high academic achievement, develop marketable career skills, encourage continued education, and enhance the quality of life in our community.

Academy Goals

  1. Enhance personal goals.
  2. Improve students' oral communication skills through group projects, role playing, oral presentations, and community service.
  3. Improve standardized test scores.
  4. Improve the physical fitness levels of Academy students.
  5. Offer a positive alternative to gangs, drugs, and crime.
  6. Involve students in their community.
  7. Career preparation.
  8. Develop strong school and work ethics.
  9. Prepare students for college and/or education beyond high school.
  10. Prepare students for active participation in their communities and our democratic society.

Academy Standards

Once students are accepted into the Academy, they must maintain a level of proficiency in many areas. The following are some of the minimum requirements:

  1. An overall GPA of 2.0 or higher in all classes.
  2. Attendance rate of 90% or higher.
  3. Performance of 50 community service hours.
  4. Students must wear a police dress uniform once a week.
  5. Students are provided training and practical experience in developing their leadership skills and abilities.
  6. Students must pass a First Aid and CPR unit of instruction.
  7. Students must possess the "P.P.R.T's of Life" (Pride, Professionalism, Respect, and Teamwork.)
  8. Students must demonstrate good attitude and a willingness to learn.
  9. Student live by example of the Academy motto, "Quitting is Not an Option."
